Paul Bastide: "Peut-on reconstruire l'histoire des épidémies ? Les données au service de la santé publique."

Paul Bastide is a CNRS junior researcher (CRCN) at the Institut Montpelliérain Alexander Grothendieck (IMAG, Université de Montpellier), working in Statistics applied to Evolutionary Biology. He completed his PhD under the supervision of Stéphane Robin at MIA Paris (AgroParisTech/INRAE) and Mahendra Mariadasou at MaIAGE (INRAE). He also worked with Cécile Ané at the University of Wisconsin - Madison thanks to a Fulbright fellowship, and was then a postdoctoral fellow in the Evolutionary and Computational Virology lab, working with Philippe Lemey at KU Leuven and Marc Suchard at UCLA, with a funding from the FWO (Research Foundation - Flanders). 

Les Conférences de la Maison française is a series of public lectures to be held once per month in person at the French House and on Zoom. The talks will cover a wide variety of topics, including (for example) economics, science, art and literature, technology, Franco-American relations, and the history of French in the Midwest. These lectures will foster the exchange among the French-speaking community on various societal and cultural questions. The talks will be in French or in English according to the choice of the guest speaker.

Les Conférences de la Maison française, au rythme d’une par mois, couvriront un ensemble large de sujets, de l’économie à la science, des arts à la technologie, et l’entrepreneuriat, des rapports franco-américains, à l’histoire des Français du Midwest, et permettront à la communauté française d’échanger sur les grandes questions de société, mais aussi sur la vie de nos compatriotes, leur parcours, leurs réalisations, leur situation locale, dans le contexte des relations franco-américaines et de l’évolution de notre monde. Ces conférences seront en français ou en anglais, selon le choix du présentateur/de la présentatrice.
